A Podcasting Guide
As Podcasting
can be technically challenging to some of
us, there is no reason why it cannot be made
simple for everyone whether technically challenged
or not to try and create their own podcast.
You can pick and choose your favorite shows
to watch or listen and best of all you can
listen or watch them whenever and wherever
you like. Listen or watch at home on your
Personal Computer or use an MP3 player such
as an iPod. You can save them for later or
watch them right away; the choice is ultimately
yours and yours alone. That is the beauty
of Podcasting.
To make it simple, all a podcast is,an MP3
file that you can listen to on your computer,
using certain technology you can subscribe
to whichever show it is you are wanting. Then
this technology will search the internet for
new samples of your chosen show and download
them to your computer automatically. Still
the majority of podcasts available to watch
or to listen to are totally free.
Before you do decide to subscribe to a particular
podcast on the internet, you will need to
find some software that is available on the
internet that will manage and automatically
sort out your podcasts on your computer. When
you connect via broadband to the internet,
this particular software will look for the
latest installment of the programme that you
have subscribed to.
This of course takes away the frustration
and time consuming act of manually looking
on the internet for the podcast that you are
requiring. Of course you can unsubscribe to
the service at any time, so you are not under
any obligation to keep acquiring that particular
podcast.
The only things you will need to successfully
download a podcast are the following few things:
A computer that has good, fast connection
to the internet. Downloads will take forever
unless you have broadband of a good quality.
You will need something like windows media
player on your computer to either watch or
listen to the podcasts. If you want to listen
or watch on the go, then you will need some
form of portable MP3 player, such as the iPod.
Then you will need some Podcasting software
which can be found for free on the internet
which will look after your podcasts for you.
Podcasts are the thing of today in fact.
